NYC 944 De Blasio'd

Ahhh, NYC, already complaining about snow removal with the new mayor. 

I live in CT, so I know my country road will have some snow on it.

But that is why my 968 wears 4 snow tires.

This early 944 did not have snows on and was wisely left on the side of Hudson.

Still, makes me happy to see another 944 earn its keep by being a daily.

Shedding Weight Like Biggest Loser Contestants

I was looking to still drop about 25 pounds from my 944 so that I could adjust my weight with fuel. And, after having Hanksville Hotrods, a 944 SPEC sponsor, remove my stock muffler, I got almost all the way there.

It weighed 21 pounds. Who knows how much junk was inside of it, but dang. That was a lot of weight, especially as it hung way out the back of the car. Past the rear axle. Not an ideal place to have weight. Unless you own a 911.

You'll see in the above pick, that I still have the chrome exhaust tip. That was not a move out of vanity. That was because I was able to use the stock hanger by keeping the tip and very end part.

944 Balance Shaft Install. 200th Post

Dave at 944 Motorwerks is keeping me up to the moment. He has been installing the balance shaft in the 944. Everyone knows this is a part Porsche licensed from Mitsubishi. But, another interesting thing to note is that some race cars and street 944s have run without the balance shafts.

But, SPEC rules mean you have to run them. And I do not think you gain much power by not using them. Just a lot lumpier idle. 

Also today ordered up a real oil temp gauge and an oil pressure warning light so have the final pieces needed once we get around to install.

Kinda mediocre 200th post. Man, it feels like I have made 2,000 posts. But, not too bad. You keep reading, I will keep them coming.

New Porsche and Explanation of Lack of New Posts

So, my latest purchase is a new Porsche 997 coupe in Guards Red C2 spec. The one option I did tick off was the plush option. I was at the Porsche dealer buying wiper blades for my 02 Audi(Which is a whole other story about corporate stupidity) when I saw this plush toy for sale. I had to pick it up. Although not as plush as the 924 above courtesy of j4u.ru but it is plush nonetheless.

Which brings me to my lack of posting. Six weeks ago I welcomed my first kid. Graham. He and mom are healthy and he already has a full race suit so he can join me in the paddock at 944 events next season. So, now that things are coming to somewhat a normal level I can again post and dedicate lots of time to all things Porsche.
