Country Drive

Admittedly, I have spent no time editing this. But, no time to sweat the details. Or, I choose to replace the pinion seal on my race car instead of editing this video in a smarter fashion.

Heat. And Eat.

I think those of us without A/C can appreciate a nice grill or BBQ dinner in the summer more than most.

To have a tasty grilled split chicken with garden herbs that also refrains from adding 1 degree of temperature to the house is luxury indeed.

Also think that this angle looking back at house is one of the better ones.

The Loo. Before & After.

So, 99% there with the bathroom remodel, so thought I would share the before and after.

Really pleased with how it turned out. Although the floor heat will be months before we can enjoy that petit luxury.

Moving the toilet from 'on stage' to the corner really made a difference in the space and flow of the room.

We tried to tow a fine line between polished and rustic. Otherwise it would stick out like a Porsche at an Aztec show.

Thanks to Greg Kennedy at Kennedy Home for the plumbing, tile and general refinishing of the space. He let me demo it. And carry the heavy things.  http://www.kennedyhome.me/www.kennedyhome.me/Welcome.html

I'll Try. Or, Farmer Luck.

Farmer luck. Or show business luck. Or drunk luck. Don't matter. When it comes to competition motor cars I could use some. So, I mounted a horseshoe we found in the yard in our perambulations above the door where I stable the 901.

Back to luck. Usually I am with Samuel Goldwyn thinking, 'the harder I work the luckier I get'. But cars evoke superstitiousness as.

Toasty Floor

Our one true luxury splurge was on a heated tile floor. This allowed us to remove the radiator and move the toilet to a less, let's say, exposed location. Quite easy to install lets hope we don't need to use for many months.

Raw Space

The bathroom was last in this condition when hay was stored here. The rebuild begins.

Basquiat in my Bathroom

Found this on the second layer of Sheetrock in the bathroom during tear our. Of course there was a second layer. Anyway. It was the floor plan for the bathroom we are finally removing. 40 years is a good run for a bathroom.

Parade of Boats

Little G and his 'ol mother' at Southport parade of boats couple of days ago. Little G is pointing and asking why we don't have a boat? I tell him better to have a friend with a boat than own one yourself. Same goes for pick up trucks.

Tapping That Rod

That light rod. So the lights we ordered for our bathroom refresh came with 3, 12" downrods. We need a 6" drop. Which necessitated cutting and then tapping the rods. Which then required painting as I really marked them up in the tapping process.

Rebuild Begins

Spent about five hours today taking apart the 901. It actually isn't as bad as I thought. Plus, this gives me the time to do lots of cleaning. Gotta look on the bright side

Broken Back

Seriously. This happened three weeks ago but only had the courage to post today. A good friend. Who is still a good friend. Was sharing the Spit with me and it got away from him at turn 3 at Limerock.

All sheetmetal damage. No frame work. But the repairs and time off track will add up. Will try to improve car while we are fixing. For now she sits in the barn waiting.

Wood Shed Complete

Finished the wood shed off with some shingles, stain and a fancy trim cut that matches the trim on the barn house. A fun self-contained project. Now if only our wood would magically move to it.

Extra Wood = Wood Shed

Building a firewood shed with leftover siding and framing from barn project. Little g was not much help except when it came to EOD break.

The Garage

This was a 5 month project. Note- barns ordered online are much bigger in real life.

Goodbye 901

The 901 went back to Colorado the other to roam free with many other SPEC racers. Adieu. You taught me much.
